What are the materials commonly used to create Marble Sculpting?

The materials required for Marble Sculpting are divided into two types: water-based and oil-based. Water-based materials are "cooked mud" that is made by mixing "raw mud" with fine soil with water and kneading repeatedly. It is characterized by strong dryness, soft and non-sticky when used, and moderate dry humidity. This kind of mud is easy to obtain and has great plasticity. From kneading small clay drafts to large-scale stone sculptures, cooked clay can be used to shape the prototype. There are many colors of soil, and it is more suitable for beginners to choose lighter-colored clay for stone carving. Oily mud is a kind of man-made material. It is softer and stickier than ordinary mud. Because oil sludge is made by melting waste rubber, wax, vegetable oil or engine oil, talcum powder, etc., it has the characteristics that it is not suitable for drying and cracking. It can be used repeatedly for a long time at room temperature. In colder or hotter temperatures, the sludge will become too hard or too soft, with poor plasticity. If a beginner stone carver uses sludge in winter, there should be heating facilities indoors to increase the humidity and keep it at room temperature; if there is no heating condition, you can also use hot water to soften the sludge. Put it in a basin and heat it, and take it out after it is soft. In addition, put the sludge close to the fire. Knead it repeatedly with both hands until it becomes soft and then use it.

The climate is hot in summer, and the sludge is easy to soften. When molding, avoid direct sunlight on the statue and knead it in a cool and ventilated place.
Clay has good dryness, strong toughness, and is not easy to break. It is suitable for dry kneading creations and small stone carvings. At present, the oil sludge sold in the store is colored. After purchasing, mix it up and knead it repeatedly until it becomes the same color before using it. Do not mix impurities in the sludge during repeated use, so as not to affect the shaping. When not in use, it should be stored in a plastic bag for long-term use.
Auxiliary materials for stone carving include, water quality, metal, and composite materials. Auxiliary materials are materials that enhance the firmness of stone carvings and can act as human bodies, objects, and skeletons in stone carvings. Wooden materials include square logs, round logs, planks, blocks, etc.; metal materials include steel bars, angle iron, steel pipes, lead wires, etc., which can be used to make the inner skeleton of stone carvings. Comprehensive materials include bricks, straw ropes, foam plastics, etc., which can be used as "fillers" to increase the internal volume of the statue, and less mud on the surface can reduce the weight of the statue, but it is not necessary for stone sculptures with small heads and busts. It can be used appropriately in large stone carvings.
