How are stone crafts polished?

2023-03-22

The polishing materials for stone crafts are mainly chromium oxide (Cr2O3), white corundum (M1.0), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), and oxalic acid (COOH2). There are generally two types of polishing stones: resin polishing blocks and resin polishing discs. Put the polishing grindstone on the product to be processed, and use mechanical equipment to run quickly and "dry polishing, wet polishing" to achieve the polishing effect. There will be strong reflected light on the surface of the product, which is commonly referred to as gloss.

The principle of polishing is mainly reflected in two aspects: the principle of particle grinding and the principle of physical chemistry. Particle grinding: When the abrasive particles are from coarse grinding to coarse grinding and polishing, the traces of abrasive grinding on the surface of the stone, from coarse to fine to no traces visible to the naked eye, the surface will appear smooth, flat and fine, when the depth reaches When it is 110 microns, the surface to be processed has a specular luster, which is radiant and bright in color.
There are two polishing processes, namely "dry polishing and wet polishing". The polishing stone is between "dry and wet". The concentration of the grinding stone increases, thereby achieving the strengthening effect, and the gloss of the product begins to meet the ideal requirements, and the gloss reaches 85 degrees or higher.
The polishing stone is used to polish the processed product. After the polished product is hot, add water to the surface of the plate to cool down. It is not allowed to add water continuously or in large quantities, otherwise, the lubrication of water will make the polishing impossible. For the ideal effect, dry polishing cannot be used entirely. Excessively high temperature will burn the board surface and cause cracks on the board surface.
Generally speaking, after the product is finely ground, the gloss of the product is about 40~50, and some stones cannot reach the above gloss after fine grinding, such as Shanxi black, black gold sand, Jining black, etc., such products are finely ground The final gloss is only between 20 and 30 degrees, which is not explained by the previous principle of particle grinding. This product is polished "dry and wet". During the temperature rise and fall, the polishing process is strengthened, and physical and chemical reactions occur. After the product undergoes "dry polishing and wet polishing", the gloss gradually increases, and the gloss reaches more than 85 degrees.
